WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ORIGINAL AND LOOSE THREAD TATTER PATCH?
Both The Original and Loose Thread Tatter Patch protect your garment from further damage from natural wear and tear. The sad but common foot or toe through your perfect or precious threads in your hole or tear. They also allow you to make your own, one-of-a-kind distressed denim look.

- Can be cut to a smaller size(s).
- Has the appearance of the skin between threads from nude a translucent backing but does not allow your skin to come through.
The Loose Thread Tatter Patch is the same patch the original patch, with a few unique exceptions:
- Allows for you natural skin to peek out under the loose thread.
- Cannot be cut to size or shape.
- Middle of mesh backing is trimmed out once applied.
HOW DO I KNOW WHAT SIZE PATCH IS THE RIGHT SIZE?
Update: We have helpful video guides now available to show you how to properly measure your garment.
Non-stretch or loose-fitting denim – Measure hole or tear at its widest and longest point. Add 1- 1 ½ ” to the length and width for adhesive bonding.
Stretch or tight skinny denim – Since Tatter Patch is not a stretchy product it is not always as straight forward with the application process as it is with a non-stretch or loose-fitting garment. If you do not measure your garment while wearing, the stress from the patch being too small will cause it to pop off. However, there is a way to apply once you have measured properly to determine the size needed:
- Put your garment on. Next measure your hole or tear at its widest and longest point while sitting down in relaxed bent knee position.
- Be sure to add 1 – 1 ½ ” extra to the length and width of your measurement for the adhesive bonding process.
DO TATTER PATCH PRODUCTS WORK ON ALL FABRICS?
All patch products are best used on all natural or polyblend fibers. The adhesive will not adhere to rayon or nylon fibers for long and will most likely fall of in the wash quickly.
